NEW CORPSE
At long last.
Posted by Shae 8/20/2008
I'M NOT DEAD
In fact, I made some updates today. Sorry for the dry spell of corpse posting, but nothing has been completed in a while. You may volunteer for starting slices if you want to kick up the excitement level a notch.
Posted by Shae 8/19/2008
SIT DOWN FOR THIS, but I made some updates today. As I mentioned in the forum, life has been a little crazy lately, again. But lots of slices were sent out today. As you can see by the STATS, more need to be sent out, but I ran out of time and must do a Work Task now.
One thing I could use is starter slices, so feel free to whip something up and send it to me if you have a hankerin'. More updates to follow.

A STUDY IN GO TO HELL
Funny, the new corpse doesn't look like a study in "Go to Hell," but what do I know.

THE NEW CORPSE is cool, even if it does have a fruity title.

NEW CORPSE
It's a beauty.
And yes, there is much for me to catch up on. But my Interwebz are working now, and I'm getting to it.
Posted by Shae 7/10/2008
NO, YOU'RE NOT SEEING DOUBLE.
An exquisite screw-up on my part has resulted in two copies of 0023. Be sure to check out both of them.

STATS UPDATED
Reminders sent, slices assigned. Nothing new to report.

THIS NEW CORPSE has the bling, yo.

THE NEW CORPSE is a thing of great whimsy! Sorry it took me so long to post it.
The house is mine! I'll endeavor to keep up with corpse tasks while moving my stuff into it and fixing my bathtub leak.
Posted by Shae 5/18/2008
ng finished to post lately. There have also been some no-show players of late, which slows things down -- not only because of the slices they neglect but because of the difficulty of finding suitable replacements who haven't already been asked. If you're very interested in corpsing right now, please let me know. I'll send you extra slices and I'll keep you in mind for corpses that keep getting passed on and are taking forever to close.
Thanks for your patience while I experience the joys of homeownership, and all the trips to the hardware store that that entails.

NEW CORPSE full of surrealist dreams.
Posted by Shae 5/08/2008
I'M TRYING something new. I'm going to do one or two corpse tasks every day or two, rather than large batches on Wednesdays and Sundays. With this I hope to both save my sanity and give you more to look at. Soon I'll take advantage of the offers of the many fine folks who have offered to help. And thanks to those of you who have followed my naming conventions and/or sent your 15 pixel slices along with your finished slices. It's a huge help!
Check out the new corpse!

JUST AN UPDATE
because I know I don't keep in touch enough.
I'm buying a house and I've been busy, but I want you all to know that I'm endeavoring to do corpse business at least twice a week, and if I'm snowed under, at least once a week on Sundays. That isn't as good as the everyday schedule I'd like to keep, but it's what I can do until things slow down a bit.
If you're a PHP whiz, and/or you'd like to help out, please see the forum post What You Can Do To Help.
And a great big giant thank you to all who have helped, who have offered to help, and to all of you, for sticking around and playing even as things are not running quite as smoothly as they did over at the old hangout. You're all helping to keep the community and the corpse dream alive!

NEW BIZNESS
First, I'm sorry for my egregious lateness in corpse business, including not sooner posting this supernaturally good new corpse. It is STELLAR. Get it? Ha ha.
Second, I can't find SuperMouseWonder! I seem to have lost his (her?) email address, and can't find an email or a signup to even clue me in as to how I ever had it in the first place. Super Mouse Wonder -- if you're there, drop me an email! Or if you're someone else who knows Super Mouse Wonder, let him know I need his email address.
That Is All.

I AM FILLED WITH GUILT for the amount of time I've been away. Please forgive me and do not leave. And check out the new corpse!
Posted by Shae 4/6/2008
THIS IS JUST A SHORT NOTE
to say that I may be buying a house, and consequently I've been running my butt off every day for the past week or two. I promise to attend to corpse posting and assignment soon!

ALL THE NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
We have new signups. Yay!
We haven't had a new corpse posted in a while. This isn't because I'm not assigning them like crazy, it's just because everyone has been going out of town or taking their sweet time. I just sent some reminders and reassigned some slices, so maybe that will help. And I'm continuing to start new corpses at the usual pace.
Or maybe participation is slow because people are having so much fun in the Start Your Own Corpse section of the forum. There are several inventive corpses brewing there, including a choose-your-own-adventure corpse which I think is particularly cool. If everyone is corpsing and everyone is happy, then I'm happy.

OOPS, I almost forgot this one was in the oven.
Posted by Shae 3/05/2008
THERE ARE not one but two new corpses finished! Darned nice ones, too. They'll be posted one at a time so that everyone may have his or her proverbial day in the sun.
In other news, some languishing slices were finally finished. Please don't blame your fellow corpskateers for their tardiness this time; in some cases they told me they wouldn't make deadline and I gave them extra time because I didn't have time to do reassignments anyway. I've got a fancy new job with a long commute, and have not attended to the site with utmost promptness lately. I apologize.
And lastly, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to the last group of signups!

NEWS
By way of a little routine news.
I reassigned some slices that were past due and sent out some reminders.
I went over to the old site and emailed a few members there, to see if they'd like to play here. Some have already responded. Thanks for joining us, old comrades!
New players are still needed and welcome, so please invite anyone you please!
And as always, if you're itching for extra corpsing, you may send me a starter slice at any time without invitation.

NEW CORPSE
Check it out.
Incidentally, I just reassigned all the slices that were languishing with slackers. Hopefully that will pick up the pace a bit around here.

Volunteer for Extra Corpsing
A few slices have been sitting in the queue for a while. A couple of these were reassigned today, and reminders were sent out for the others.
Now that we have thirty-something members, and around a dozen corpses simmering at any given time, everyone is basically playing all the time. This is great fun for some people, but a bit much for others. Some people, who were accustomed to the pace over at www.anexquisitecorpse.net, are probably getting more slices than they can handle.
So if you're one of the people who would like to corpse as much as possible, email me and let me know.

Comfort zone screaming, skin deep he dreamed of.

I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND my exquisite apologies if I have done any of the following annoying things. Sent you two slices within a short time frame. Skipped you when it seems that people before and after you were assigned slices recently. Caused you to play with the same people you played with in a prior corpse. Sent you a slice in the wrong resolution.
This whole process is becoming exquisitely complicated. It was easy the first round through, when I could say, there's someone who hasn't gotten a slice yet. Done. But now with subsequent passes, and various people on hold, and various corpses taking way longer than others, and other such events that are difficult to keep record of, it's not as easy to do things in the best possible fashion. Not to mention the fact that I'm now getting several corpse-related emails a day plus their associated re-assignment tasks. It can be confusing.
However, I hope to work the kinks out of this in time. Hang tight, and send me an email if I've done anything annoying.

NEW CORPSE
Take a look, it's a beauty! Nice title too.

RESOLUTION REMINDER
Just a reminder, folks! Recently I have gotten three corpse slices in the wrong resolution. The resolution should be 72 dpi. Working at a different resolution could cause a seam with the slices before and/or after yours (even if you didn't see it while working). This is because all slices have to be the same resolution before they are tacked together, and if one has to be increased or reduced, pixels could move around and not line up properly.
If you have any questions about how to get the resolution at 72dpi, email me or ask for help in the forums. Thanks!

MORE CORPSING AVAILABLE!
So the time has come in which everyone has been offered at least one slice (though they may have declined it). My next course of action is to offer slices to the few people who didn't have time the first time, and then we'll start seeing second-time corpsers around here.
Since some people have nothing but time on their hands and others can barely squeeze in a day to play, this is your chance to volunteer. If you'd like to start a corpse, you can do so without ado and send it to me at shae
newexquisitecorpse.net when you're finished. I posted this in the forum but I don't know if it was seen since activity over there is low. Anyway, if you'd like to continue a corpse, simply email me at the same address and let me know. You'll be considered for the next batch of slices that go out.
Also, remember how over at www.anexquisitecorpse.net y'all were always like, Let's make a hand-drawn corpse! Let's make a landscape corpse! Let's thwart all the rules and do needlessly complicated things! Well, now's your chance. You can start your own alternative corpse in the forums here.
For example, Fiddler has started an accordion corpse (and it doesn't have anything to do with the oft-maligned cut-and-paste technique of the same name). It's cool! It's new! It's weird! Go over there and volunteer to be a part of this bleeding-edge, next-generation corpsing phenomenon!
And speaking of the forums, maybe you aren't talking much because there have been some posting problems. In my zeal to block porn spam, I inadvertantly stopped some people from posting some legitimate and interesting things. Now registrations have been tightened (to keep bots out) and post content by registered users has been loosened. If you're a real human, you can now go over there and discuss Viagra to your heart's content. And if you've had trouble registering, please email me and let me know. I want to keep out bots, but I don't want to keep out players.

NEW EMAIL ADDRESS
Please send any communication to me regarding corpsishness to shae
newexquisitecorpse.net.
I may respond to you from another address, but at least I won't overlook your email in the bloated inbox of my previously-published mostly-spam-gathering address. Thanks!

YO
Thank you new sign-ups for joining us!
Thank you bloggers for blogging about us!
Thanks to the 33 of you who have signed up and the 19 of you who have registered in the forums.
And the... uh, like five of you who are talking there.
So I know I can't force people to hang out and talk and have a good time, or anything, but it would be cool nonetheless.
Specifically, it would be nice to see some comments on the finished corpses that come from people other than the four who worked on them. One of my favorite parts of completing a corpse over at the old site was seeing what other people would say. Did the corpse look pretty? Was my slice too dark? Too gawdy? Too weird? It must be a little dissappointing to finish a corpse and only see comments from your three collaborators.
Also, feel free to talk about whatever else over there, too. Corpse techniques. Site ideas. Interesting stories from Slashdot. Funny things your toddler said. Recipes for miso soup. That sort of thing.
Thank you for listening.

New Exquisite Corpse was inspired by http://www.anexquisitecorpse.net and by Phineas and Jima, the very talented and amusing folk who kept it running for many years before placing it on "indefinite pause."
If this site looks familiar, it's because I didn't want to fix what wasn't broke and I didn't want y'all to get lost. Same rules, similar navigation, less functionality... for now... because I'm not a coding genius just yet, until I graduate the Universitary a whole two and a half weeks from now.
If you're brand new and you've stumbled upon this site by some strange twist of fate, read the "about" and "rules" page.
Corpses are in the pipeline. Volunteers are standing by. This sucker will run manually until my old man and I can whip up some sort of content management system and hopefully make it all robotic like Phineas' site.
Please sign up, and forgive the low-tech signup process.
